Good and great things in the works

The post below is to say , "Sorry I haven't been around here much",  but also to say that as soon as things begin going up,  one of the first features to be integrated into the framework is Weblogs.  We've already signed ourselves up at Type Pad to play around with some of those features (I'm still looking for Movable Type Pro,  which I thought was due out this summer--- what's the ETA on that?  As a developer,  and one who plans on doing a lot of integration with data and other "Web technologies",  including .Net and Flash (via Actionscript),  I will want to be customizing quite a bit.  I haven't given up on finding a .Net and/or a DotNetNuke powered Weblog server app.  I've tried installing DotText ,  but seem to run into roadblocks.  It's not exactly a user-friendly install,   even for a "reasonably competent" level developer like me.

We are also about to receive our copy of Studio MX 2004 (I've been using the Trial Copy -- 10 days left,  but we should get ours within the week).  OK,  so more on this later as time permits.  Just know that I'm in the midst of a push to do a LOT of stuff over the next week,  but it's unique in that this time it's not such a "draining" time like most "deadline rushes" are, but is filled with anticipation,  excitement,  and the great feeling that others have caught some of the sense of "what could be" from some of the things I have articulated about online community, weblogging,  Web technology,  and the call to converse with the online world.

In keeping with the description/mission of Old Saint George ("A Great Good Place for Community and Spirtual Renewal"),  the title of this post could have been "Great Good Things in the Works")

Flash is a no-brainer for us

There's a Flash MX 2004 class at Lynda.com - get a month of access to all Lynda.com video classes for $25

I've been blogging very little lately,  mostly due to the fact that I've been spending all of my time at the desk on Website features and "Flash feature" reviews.  I've been gathering an arsenal of Macromedia Flash MX 2004 features via a brand new addition to the online training collection at lynda.com.   Flash is SO right for OSG,  and the kind of "feel" that we want to "make present" on our site.

There's a meeting of the OSG Board with lots of new faces included as one president steps down and they transition to a new one.  Larry and I want to have some new development features to show as a prelude to future,  and hopefully,  dramtically increased Web development.  Hopefully,  I'll be compelled to blog a little on my uncontainable excitement sometime in the next week or so as I implement several new pages and incorporate a lot of the written thoughts and visions Larry will be sending my way.  I also intend to insert several "edit" points on the pages so that remote editing will be possible.

Fox covered far too little

After my post of dismay about Fox Sports NOT having the Cubs game on Saturday,  I did see that they did a lot of switching over to the Astros and the Cubs games.  I just wonder,  still,  why wasn't the Cubs game the POINT game?  What OTHER story was there on Saturday?  I could see a coverage of the Astros as primary in Astors territory,  with lots of switching to the Cubs game.  The Braves-Phillies was worth absolutely zero.
